VIVIAN SHENG
Vivian Sheng was born in China and raised in Singapore. She considers New York City, where she studied Economics/Art History at NYU and Fashion Design at Parsons, her second home.
She started drawing before she could walk; art and design have always been the most important aspects of her life. She first ventured into fashion at the age of five, when she made little doll costumes -- trench coats, cocktail dresses and mini skirts -- for her barbie. After obtaining her BA in Econ and Art History from New York University, she decided to enter Parsons for fashion and accessory design. She was awarded Designer of the Year upon graduation. She then started her journey into interactive installation, film and media, and performance.
She draws inspiration from many sources, especially Japanese art and culture, modern architecture and contemporary art. To her, the most important part in fashion is the craftsmanship and details that go into the construction.
